Ceramics: Raku: 2007 Cups

The raku process involves taking the vessel through extreme thermal shock which I relate to the culture shock from traveling to and from a third world country. The intentional use of glazes with large contentrations of rutile references the mining industry in Sierra Leone, which exports large amounts of bauxite (aluminum) and rutile (titanium).
